What is Howdah?
Howdah is an independently owned and operated small business based in Austin, Texas, that specializes in secondhand home goods. Howdah does not have a physical storefront and conducts all sales and business online.
Where are items sourced?
I travel both locally and internationally frequently and source where I can, when I can. Whether from estate sales in neighborhoods surrounding Austin or thrift stores in foreign cities, all items are hand-picked by yours truly for the store. Hint: Each product description includes a note on where the item was found!
Are all items secondhand?
Yes, every item I offer is secondhand or vintage. While I inspect each piece to ensure it's in good condition, keep in mind that some items may show signs of age, which only adds to their character.
Are your items sustainable?
Definitely! By offering secondhand and vintage goods, I’m contributing to reducing waste and promoting sustainability. Shopping vintage gives these beautiful items a new life, and I’m proud to support that cause ✨
Can I return or exchange an item?
Due to the unique nature of each item, all sales are final. I don’t offer returns or exchanges by policy, and provide detailed descriptions and as clear of photos as possible to ensure you feel confident in the quality of your purchase.

I'm more than happy to send additional photos or information before you place an order, and will consider refunds on a case-by-case basis based on all other possible outcomes.
How can I be sure an item will fit in my space?
Measurements are usually included in product descriptions. Be sure to check them carefully and measure the dimensions in your own space to ensure a perfect fit before your purchase.
How often do you update your inventory?
I’m always on the lookout for new treasures, so my inventory changes frequently. Since I source items individually, updates can vary, but I recommend checking the site regularly or signing up for Instagram notifications to stay in the loop!
How are items packaged for shipping?
I take great care when packaging items, using eco-friendly and/or recycled materials whenever possible. I make sure that fragile items are wrapped and cushioned to arrive safely at your doorstep and include fragile stickers on the exterior to encourage careful handling by mail delivery providers. You might even find a handwritten thank you note and few extras inside each box!
Where do you ship?
Currently, within the United States only. Keep an eye out for updates regarding local delivery/pick-up in the city of Austin!
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept major credit cards, PayPal, and Shopify Payments. All payments are securely processed, so your information is safe!
How do you price your items?
I take a number of factors into consideration when pricing my items, including purchase price, historical importance, market value, rarity, and labor.
