What is 'Delft', you ask? Delftware refers to a style of blue and white pottery that originated in the city of Delft, Netherlands in the 17th century. It was inspired by imported Chinese porcelain, which was very popular in Europe at that time. Local Dutch potters developed their own tin-glazed earthenware version, decorated with hand-painted cobalt blue designs (like those seen here). This delft ceramic jar is delicately adorned with Dutch floral motifs and a classic windmill scene. Perfect for storing tea, sugar, or simply gracing a shelf with its old-world beauty. No notable markings on bottom.
Measures approximately 4in. in width and 5.75in. in height (including lid).
Sourced in Paris, France.
