Fenton Art Glass opened in 1905 and for more than 100 years, was the largest manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United States. Fenton is known for its innovative glassmaking techniques, including carnival glass (introduced in 1907), hobnail patterns, and a wide range of hand-blown, hand-painted, and pressed glass designs. Over the decades, the company produced a variety of collectible glassware, including opalescent, milk glass, and Burmese glass, until its closure in 2011.
Before the 1970s, Fenton did not consistently mark their glassware because they primarily sold to other retailers (who often requested unbranded pieces to sell under their own store labels). As such, collectors have had to rely on characteristics like mold patterns, colors, and specific design elements unique to Fenton to authenticate them. This vase is believed to be an older, unmarked Fenton piece due to its use of such elements, such as its coloring, ruffled edges, glass quality, and mold pattern.
Weighing around 2lbs. and standing 8 inches high, this beautiful cranberry pink colored vase is feminine in design, quality in its structure, and positively vibrant when placed in a sunny space.
Recommended hand wash only. Very small chip on the inside lip.
Sourced in Austin, TX.
